The Western Bay of Plenty has a rich Māori history which we touched on in our videos from the three Rangatira of the Tākitimu, Mataatua and Te Arawa waka. This page includes more historical kōrero relating to the people of those waka. These resources provide further insight to the historical and contemporary experiences of local iwi and hapū and are provided to help you build your understanding of the perspective that those iwi and hapū bring to the table when you are engaging with them.
