There is mana in Waka, from Waka comes genealogy and responsibility.

To fully appreciate the importance of kaupapa Māori in the work that we do we need to know more about Tangata Whenua in the Western Bay.

Tangata Whenua who reside in the Western Bay connect to three waka –

• Mātaatua
• Takitimu and
• Te Arawa
